Hello! We’re the Millers - the husband and wife team behind newCOASTER. We were both born and raised on the Sunshine Coast, and so when the opportunity arose to put our education in tourism, marketing and magazine publishing towards our very own publication, we leapt at the chance and haven't looked back. For over a decade we have been helping to introduce potential new residents to our hometown of the southern Sunshine Coast!
In 2018, we celebrated 10 years in print, which was a truly humbling milestone for us. When we started newCOASTER, we had no idea how it would be received. From the beginning it was always just the two of us who tackled everything from sales and marketing to design and delivery, and though it was hard work at times, it was also extremely rewarding. |
Reaching a decade would not have been possible without our loyal readers, advertisers, distributors and supporters - words alone can't express how grateful we are for all of you!
To mark the beginning of the magazine’s next decade, we launched newCOASTER online as a streamlined, user-friendly digital edition that readers could access from anywhere. We did this for two reasons. The most important, was the arrival of our daughter in the spring of 2017. After taking the summer to enjoy our new family, we dove back in to the 2018/2019 anniversary edition, though quickly realized that we could no longer complete the work of two full-time employees. Fast-forward to the summer of 2018, when the idea to take newCOASTER online was born! |
We also wanted to lessen the environmental impact that printing 5000 100+ page magazines per year was having - our second reason for going online. As a result, we have created a more streamlined and eco-friendly resource for potential new residents to use as they research the southern Sunshine Coast.
It has always been our goal to encourage potential residents to make this beautiful area their home and we certainly hope to introduce as many people as possible to the unique culture, sense of community, and to new neighbours and businesses. More than anything, we hope that our readers will truly feel like locals! We are extremely proud that newCOASTER has helped so many new and potential Sunshine Coast residents discover the beauty of our region. We hope you will join our online community through Instagram and Facebook and share your stories and photos with us, as so many of our readers continue to do. Amanda & Josh
